Each night, may visit a player and give them a broken item
Counterfeiter is a mafia-aligned role that can give broken items to any other player at night. It is impossible to distinguish between an item received from a Counterfeiter versus an item received from a traditional item-giving role such as Fruit Vendor or Weaver. This makes Counterfeiter, or any other meeting mafia in a game where Counterfeiter exists, adequate at claiming such roles.
Each night, the Counterfeiter may choose a player in the game and an item. If the Counterfeiter chose someone, they will visit them that night and the chosen player will receive a broken version of the chosen item. Counterfeiter can never give out TNT. A Gun given out by a Counterfeiter will always have a 50% chance to reveal the shooter, the same as Arms Dealer. A Suit given out by a Counterfeiter will always reveal as Mafia if fixed by a Handyman. As with Tailor, players will not be aware if they receive a Suit. Counterfeiter can give to other mafia members, both meeting and nonmeeting.

Use & Power[]
In making a setup, Counterfeiter can be used as a way for the mafia to claim normally unccable roles that give out items such as Fruit Vendor. Such roles are unccable because players can confirm or deny that they received the items these roles give out. Counterfeiter, however, can pass out items of its own, allowing the mafia to counter claim these item-givers. With roles such as Arms Dealer, the authenticity of the claims can be tested by using the items, such as firing a received gun. If the gun kills the holder, it was broken, and as such was given out by the Counterfeiter, confirming the person who claimed to give it to them as mafia. For some roles, though, the authenticity can never be tested until one of the players has their role revealed. Fruit Vendor fits into this category, because fruit does nothing, so one can not determine if a fruit is broken or not.
If Handyman exists in a setup, Counterfeiter can be used as a way to make the Handyman wary about visiting, as fixing a mafia's Gun or a town member's Suit or Bee Bomb will benefit the mafia.
Counterfeiter's existence in a setup can also make players wary about using their items. For example, players may not want to fire guns they receive for risk of it being broken and them killing themselves.
In gameplay, Counterfeiter causes town to distrust claims of roles such as Fruit Vendor and causes them to be more cautious about using items such as Guns. The Counterfeiter's death confirms the claims of item-giving roles, so the mafia should avoid having it die while the players in question are alive.
Interactions[]
- Anarchist, Mailman, and Thief can steal any items given out by a Counterfeiter. (Mailman can only steal them on the night they were given out.)
- Buffoon, Goof, and Klutz will not receive any items given out by a Counterfeiter.
- Handyman can fix any item given out by a Counterfeiter.
Trivia[]
- Counterfeiter is the only role that is able to give out Immunity Idols, excluding the Idols' ability to be passed from player to player.
- Despite its ability to give out Suits, Counterfeiter is not classified as a Liar. This may be an oversight.
